@sobetion @rewd @nbriz @jahwil @he-mo Thanks for your appreciation! Oddly, I wanted to do something else with a Lada conjoined to a Trabi, but forgot to wind on before the next Trabi shot. Now it's much different, but I am glad that you like it. I like it as well.

@erikagrendel Many thanks for your kindness!
@koduckgirl Thank you! This is the "People's car" of the former East Germany - so no surprise why it was not too well known in USA. Millions were made and were a popular choice as a family/service/personal car in the Eastern block. Despite their many mechanical flaws and missing safety features, many are road-worthy even today, sometimes used for recreational purposes, media appearance, etc.

This is great, can't wait until I get a chance to show my husband. He still tells stories of his trip to Germany right after reunification and watching for the clouds of black smoke on the autobahn so they would rear end Trabants. ;-)

@alburnkat Your choice of mockery happens to coincide with the only choice that millions of people had. I have a great respect for those who left the comfort of their homes and went to the West to seek for a better life.

I apologize for any perceived mockery, my comment wasn't about any of the people driving the Tabants or their lives. It was about the dilemma my husband and his buddy had driving the German Autobahn with the Tribants creeping at 55kph in front of them as they were driving 145kph and the Porsches doing 240kph coming up behind them. They actually appreciated the black cloud of smoke that signaled a Tribant ahead, because the Porsches didn't give any warning that they were about to run them over. Again Sorry. It's a great photo.

@alburnkat No need to apologize, this was a well-known phenomena in the time. Happily, I have not seen it personally.
