The Salton Sea is the harshest environment I've experienced. The 110 degree heat was amplified by the reflecting quality of the heavy salinity in the sea. Algae blooms created from agricultural runoff cause massive cyclical fish die offs. The shore is littered with fish bones and dessicated remains. The smell and swarms of flies mean you can only stand near the shore for short moments of time. I kept retreating back to the car to reload film and setup different cameras. Still if you can stand it it creates some very stark imagery. I plan to go back and try and adjust better for the glare.
