A Rift…It’s not a wormhole. It’s not a doorway to other planets. A Rift is a portal to the multiverse, to infinite versions of other Earths. It is a place where evolutionary biology meets physics and there are 14 of them around the world. Ryn Whittaker, 17, is a Citadel, one of thousands of cybernetically altered soldiers, tasked with policing these portals. Every day, dozens, sometimes hundreds of ‘Immigrants’ pour out of the Rifts' mouth. Some are human, many are not, but all are afraid and none will ever be able to go home again. Ryn was never given a choice. The Allied Rift Coalition- a multinational organization which oversees all Rift activity chose her when she was only seven and she was activated at 14. It is a secret she is forced to keep from her family and one that threatens to break her apart far more easily than any hostile she faces down on duty.
