  • Waiting for the clouds to pass

    shared by derrickpeters on 2010-03-09

Taken whilst working as 1st AC on the Feature Film 'Here' in Armenia in 2009. The Film was shot in sequence as we drove on an amazing adventure around Armenia so any potential delays had far reaching consequences for the rest of the shoot. On this particular day we could barely see a few car lengths in front due to the cloud cover which had been holding us back for days, so we couldnt shoot the scene. It was looking like the completion of the film would be in jeopardy. Then miraculously the clouds started to dissipate. This photograph shows the director Braden King as he prepares to finally shoot the scene as the last of the clouds clear. Shot on an Original LC-A bought at a local market in Yerevan with Kodak Ektachrome 100D Color Reversal Motion Picture Stock 5285 wound down into 35mm canisters then cross processed. With a mono day for night filter held in front of the lens for good measure.

I think the man with the hat is my grandfather on the fatherside. Notice the barrels containing herring possibly.

A fisherman cutting the hair on a colleague whilst smoking a pipe. It must be a scene from the herringfisheries in Iceland.
