Kodak Ektachrome EPP (120, 100 iso) User-Review

Well, do you know the feeling when you discover something good, and you are tempted not to share with your friends ‘cause there’ll more for you? And the feeling when you’re discovering something SO GOOD, that you know there is no way you’re not gonna share with your friends?

I discovered this film, like any good discovery, by chance. I went to my dealer to get my fix, and the Ektachrome VS was out. So I asked, what do you have to offer me instead? and he said, “oh, well, there’s the E100G which is nice and there’s the EPP, which is a very old fella in the market, and not for nothing. It is a very good one”. I wanted a pack of 5, and the box is lined with light cyan stripes, looking all very vintage like, and I immediately thought, “that is very cool”. I got the pack. here’s what came out of the first rolls, cross-processed:

Wow. I was impressed.

This is something I did not come across until now. This film kept the original colors, with no shift to one specific tone, and just gave them a huge saturation boost (and the known cross-process push to the contrast)! Amazing. I fell in love and here are the results (again, cross-processed):

And now, remember the dramatic opening of the article? I discovered by accident, on the Kodak website, that this dear film is in it’s last days. Discontinued (this dreadful word) as of 2009, stock will last until somewhere in the beginning of 2010. People, that’s now!! So, even though it will mean a bit less of it for me, go, go, go and get it while you can! (I’m sure gonna order a few 5-pack of this good stuff, and let it age (very shortly I guess) in a cool paper box in my fridge).
