Three Sitting Birds, Cyprus

The shop “Three Sitting Birds” first opened its doors in Nicosia in September 2011, aiming at introducing Lomography to Cyprus and bringing film photography back to life. I believe that an art movement like Lomography is essential and could inspire communities to evolve and create and I would love my shop to be part of that process.

We had an interview with the lovely store manager Irene Stylianou, and this is what she had to say about Lomography:

Which one is your favourite Lomography camera and why?
My favourite Lomography camera is the first camera I ever bought, the Fisheye No. 2. I had read a magazine review, got curious and ordered myself one. The Fisheye’s 17mm lens is perfect for landscapes, architecture, urban, nature, underwater and even portraiture photography.

What’s the weirdest Lomographic moment you’ve ever had?
I don’t know if I’ve had THE weirdest Lomographic moment, yet… but a weird moment was definitely when I’d taken my Diana Mini out for the first time and felt like everyone was staring at me. I don’t know if they thought it was a toy or if I was pretending to be a photographer like kids pretend to be parents to their dolls, but it was kind of weird for them, I guess!

What is the nerdiest question you’ve ever been asked in your shop?
The nerdiest question is always the classic: “can’t I view my pictures on that little screen on the back?”

Where is the best place to shoot some Lomographic masterpieces in your city?
The best place to shoot in my city is the marina and the smaller dock along the seaside. The colors are always changing, either bright and sunshiny or blue-ish and more romantic during the evening. Also the street lights are perfect to capture with a Colorsplash and/or a Sprocket Rocket!
