He joined the Community not only for the crazy photographs but also for the creative and informative tipsters. In fact, one of his goals is to try out as many tipsters as he can. Let’s get to know our Newcomer of the Week from Leipzig, Germany, elimpacto!

Jakob aka elimpacto

Please tell us something about yourself.

I´m a 24-year-old student of printing technology and I live in Leipzig. I grew up in a small town near Berlin and started taking my first photos several years ago. In the beginning, they were all digital. Then I realized that the process of taking analogue pictures is a lot more fun and exciting, especially when you develop the film rolls by yourself.

If I’ll have the opportunity, I like to visit flea markets to take a look at cameras, but most of the time I end up buying them instead of just looking.

How did you find the Community and who/what convinced you to join?

I am not sure, but I think that I found the community while searching for photos shot using the cameras that I just bought. Shortly after looking at the website, I realized that it’s not a typical photo community. The style of the pictures are really crazy and imaginative. I also like the tipster section, which is really creative and informative. Unfortunately, I haven´t followed all the advice I’ve gotten. Generally, I am interested in the experimental way most lomographers use in taking photos.

As you have read the 10 Golden Rules of Lomography, what rule do you apply in your everyday life?

Don´t think.

In this digital age, why still film?

I like how the cameras are built. The simplicity and mechanism of an old camera is impressive. The sound of the shutter from my EXA 1c is one of a kind and cannot be compared to that of digital cameras. Also, you have to slow down. Shooting a photo using analogue takes a lot more time, for example if you are shooting without a built-in lightmeter. Of course, you have to wait while the film is still in the lab.

However, the actual reason I shoot in film is because of the style of an analogue picture: its smooth edges and special variety of colours. And you can buy analogue cameras for a couple of euros.

Your favorite analogue camera as of the moment? Why?

That is a difficult question. I have too many but for now it´s the Lomo LC-A. My all time favourite is the Praktica MTL 5 because you can´t destroy that camera. It will even outlast me.

What is the Lomographic camera you’d want to have someday?

The La Sardina 8 Ball and the Lomo LC-A+ 20th Anniversary Edition. I love the look of both cameras but the last one will be hard to get.

Any song or movie you live by?

Please, Please, Please, Let Me Get What I Want by The Smiths

Just because I like doubles!

Any Community member you look up to? If so, why him or her?

ali55. The variety of her shots is amazing. Most of all, I like her shot on the railway! And it looks like she is taking Rule #1 very seriously.

What are you looking forward to in our Community?

To try out as many tipsters as I can and to benefit from the community. But most of all, I want to have fun and share pictures with other lomographers.
