On the Road with Daniel Alea and the Lomo’Instant Automat Glass

The photographer Daniel Alea has been traveling with his Lomo’Instant Automat Glass and this is the fantastic result. Get to know Daniel and dive into his wonderful work!

Hello Daniel! Could you introduce yourself to the community?

I’m Daniel Alea, a photographer. I mostly devote myself to editorial portraits and I also have a project going on alongside my girlfriend called Unusual Journey. It’s an online travel magazine where we try to talk about different destinations and travelers. Actually, right now we are launching a section, together with Lomography, where travelers chosen by us prepare a travel journal in the form of instant photos.

Can you tell us your personal history with photography?

When I was 18 years old I was on exchange in Canada just before finishing high school, and when I came back to Spain I had to decide whether to go to university or what to do with my life. I had never considered it but I had always been buying magazines and followed photographers so when I was back in Spain I signed up for a few courses to try it out and little by little here we are...

What do you like most about your job?

What I like most, without a doubt, is having access to places, the opportunity to meet interesting people and tell stories, that would be difficult otherwise.

What were your first impressions of the Lomo’Instant Automat Glass?

I really liked its size and compact design.

What can you tell us about the photos you have taken?

They are photos of my surroundings; friends and places that I have visited recently.

What’s the thing you liked most about the camera?

How compact is it so that I can always have it on me and illustrate my daily life, like a journal. I also really like that with this size you get the option of buying black and white film.

What’s the technique that you have used the most?

I have shot in normal mode.

What do you like about instant photography?

I love the immediacy and having a paper support that you can touch, give as a present...
