Behind-the-Scenes with Palaye Royale in New York City
5 Share TweetHailing from Toronto, Canada, brothers Remington Leith, Sebastian Danzig, and Emerson Barrett come together to form fashion-art rock band Palaye Royale. Recently featured on the covers of Alt Press and Rock Sound magazines, having played shows all over the world with artists such as Sleeping with Sirens, Crown the Empire, and Good Charlotte, and being featured in thriller movie "American Satan" alongside Andy Black of Black Veil Brides, it is easy to say they are soon to become a household name. LomoAmigo Sophia Ragomo spent some time with the band before their March show in NYC with Pop Evil to document what a typical day in the busy lives of Palaye Royale looks like.
Before the band got too busy with pre-show activities, Ragomo snapped a few portraits of the group with the Lomo'Instant Wide. The photos were taken all throughout the Gramercy Theatre in New York City when the group stopped there on tour with Pop Evil on March 20. In addition, she had them sign and draw on the pictures for a personal touch, which the group had a lot of fun playing with. A typical day for the band includes meeting their fans at an afternoon acoustic show and meet-and-greet, sound checking, playing their set to adoring crowds, and speaking to audience members at the merch table long after the show has ended.
This backstage series was started by music photographer Sophia Ragomo to get a variety of musicians and music fans alike excited about what's possible with film photography. Because of the low light available in concert venues, high ISO films, specifically Cinestill 800 Tungsten X-Pro and Ilford Delta 3200, were used to create these photographs. This piece was created in partnership with Sumerian Records, an LA-based record label focused on the rock scene. Palaye Royale, an up-and-coming rock band with retro vibes, were really excited to see the different results that film photography produces and we hope to work with them again in the future.
Check out Palaye Royale's music on Spotify and iTunes, follow them on Instagram, Twitter, and Facebook, and see them live on Vans Warped Tour this summer.
