Community Gallery: Falling into Autumn

In many countries, November marks the fall season coming to a close. Temperature drops are paired with shorter days and longer nights. The month rests at a unique place within the year: a month in the midst of the changing seasons, as the end of the year looms near and a new one sits right around the corner.

Fall and Autumn are used interchangeably to represent the same thing: a season signaling transition. Changes in the natural world occur such as the falling of leaves and the decaying of fruits and vegetables. What’s special about the fall season is that we get to witness that very transition.

Depending on where you are situated in the world, the fall season presents itself in varying ways. But, I believe it to be universally felt that the seasonal colors surrounding this time fall into warmer hues, going deep into the reds, oranges, yellows, and browns. And, sometimes even juxtaposing it with the cooler colors the atmosphere brings, as seen in the film photographs above, with some of the images captured with the classic Lomo LC-A+ 35 mm Film Camera.

Taking a stroll and snapping away photographs on film during the season somehow feels a bit more nostalgic than usual.
