Radonezh - a village in Sergiev Posad district of Moscow region, 55 kilometers from Moscow. Located on a promontory on the shores of the river Pazhi. The village of Radonezh was founded by Slavs around the XI century, at the intersection of the road and the river Pazhi. According to legend, Novgorodian Radoneg built a fortress and called it the "Radonezh", as belonging to him, Radonegu.
