Askold is an island in Peter the Great Gulf of the Sea of Japan, 50 km southeast of Vladivostok and 40 km west of Nakhodka. It is known as a natural nursery of spotted deer. It is an object of ecotourism. Among tourists it is famous for its ancient lighthouse and abandoned military equipment (remains of artillery battery No. 26). There are gold and sand deposits on the island.
