Half Frame Box

Trying to get more shots per roll of film, I made a 6x4.5 mask for my 1930s Agfa Box 44. I already had a 6x6 mask from another camera and so I added two strips of cardboard, making the exposed area 7,5 millimeters smaller on both sides. Because the mask didn’t cover the whole 6x9 area, there’s a thin white stripe on most of these images. I just fixed this and on the next roll, images should be all leakless and pretty. One other thing is that it can be quite a challenge to estimate where to take the second picture. For the first one, as well as any uneven number, the film can of course be advanced to the next number on the backing paper seen through the indicator window. For every even number, one has to guess the right place in between, which can be a little tricky. Depending on what film stock I use there might be different ways of findig the proper place. With this first roll, I’ve had some overlapping images, but nothing too bad. And with some practice I think it will get even easier.
