The Beginner's Instruction Guide to Using the KONSTRUKTOR

Lomography’s Konstruktor is a DIY (do-it-yourself) SLR, the first in the world. How does this camera work? Let’s take a look.

Let’s check the functions of the KONSTRUKTOR little by little. It is a SLR. How it works is that it reflects through one single lens and has a viewfinder at the top of the camera. It also has a handy magnifier so you can focus properly.

• Shutter Speed

For the shutter speed, you can pick what mode to set the camera on. There are two settings, N and B. N is for normal shutter speed at 1/80 and B is for a longer shutter speed, or Bulb exposure.

• The shutter switch will be here.

Every time you take a picture make sure to pull the shutter back up again. Pull the shutter at this lever. You are able to take multiple exposures.

• Lens

The KONSTRUKTOR camera is a DIY SLR. You can take off and change the lens given in the kit. It is a 50 mm lens. The camera has an aperture of f/10. The focus is in meters. Closest you can get in focus is 0.5 meters. There are also settings for 1 meter, 2 meters, and infinity.

• How to load the film

Loading the film is similar to loading the film on a normal 35mm camera. When you load the film, just close the back. There is a lock on the back of the camera.

Wind the film clockwise. There is a number count for how many you have taken.

Remove the film when finished by turning it clockwise. You can do this without pressing a button.

• B mode

This takes around 10-15 seconds.

• N mode

Focus 0.5 meter.

Focus 1 meter.

Focus 2 meters.

Focus infinity.
