Romantic Transatlantic: Maya Beano with the LomoChrome Purple

3

Earlier this year, photographer and traveler Maya Beano shared her personal experience in floating on the Dead Sea as well as her must-haves inside her bag.

This time, Maya reveals the outcome of her own shots with Lomography’s LomoChrome Purple XR (35mm) during her travel to London and her state-hopping in the Northeast Coast of the USA.

Intrigued by the name itself, Maya took interest in using the film. “Of all the photographs I come across online, my favourite tend to contain violet or lilac hues for some reason. I thought I’d give Lomochrome Purple a go,” she told Lomography Magazine.

True to its nature, the LomoChrome Purple beings in the surrealistic, daydream-like aesthetics with its colorful vibrancy: purples, blues, violets and pinks blend along together for an illusion of nighttime wonderland.

Now paired with Maya’s soft and subtle signature, the photographs are akin to subtle phantasmagorical, impressionistic paintings.

“I was pleasantly surprised with the photos shot at ISO 100 when it was relatively dark outside (sunset and onwards). I was a bit worried they would turn out too dark, but I actually liked those results more than the ones taken during the day. The versatility of the film is also a plus, that is, being able to shoot at any ISO between 100 and 400. I still need to experiment a bit more with this.” added Maya.

The usual grays of London are replaced with an ethereal-urban aesthetic, while her USA nature trip shots become more mythical and storybook-esque.
