Lomography x Mono No Aware: Film Manipulation

Lomographers are almost always synonymous to being huge risk-takers when it comes to photography. Think outside the box and let's all be rule-breakers!

We teamed up with Mono No Aware, a 501c3 film lab facility and cinema-arts non-profit organization working to promote connectivity through the cinematic experience, to give you a chance to win rare rolls of film and discounts on analogue gear. To be the champ of this challenge, showcase how you experiment and artistically tamper with your negatives and prints. Here are some ideas to get you started:

  • Film Soup: If you want to achieve an irreplicable look to shots, doing a film soup is the best way to go. Dunk your film roll on lemon juice, rum, detergent or any other liquid you can think of and wait for the magic to work!
  • Negative Burning: Produce melted and distorted images by slightly burning your negatives. Beware: No turning back after this!
  • Light Leaks: Lens flare and light leaks give images that unmistakable charm. Do it the analogue way!

One grand prize winner will win six 36-exposure rolls of the AGFA 100T motion picture color negative film that has been lovingly spooled down to shoot still images by Mono No Aware, while four runners-up will get 50 EUR/USD vouchers for our Online Shop. Each participant may submit up to 10 photographs. This competition serves as the qualifying round for the Trial and Error category of our TEN AND ONE Annual Lomography Photo Awards 2019.
