  • Going all macro with Zenit-E

    shared by bobby_sekeris on 2013-10-19

I simply love macro photography and as I do not own a expensive macro lens I decided to try something out. For these pics I just used my Zenit-E with its usual Helios lens and in front of it I held the Diana Close Up lens. I am rather surprised that it worked so well, absolutely going to try this again!

I forgot that this lens had a center filter on it that evens out vignetting in the image but also reduces the exposure by at least two stops so these should have been longer exposures. Still a really cool camera with an amazing build quality.

Holidays are fantastic. They're even better if they come around only once a year. And if the holiday's by the beach, that's like a cherry on top. These pictures were made on quiet beaches around Morjim, in North Goa. My first experience with the 6x12 format on the Belair. And the very first time I've used the brilliant and contrasty Kodak 400 TMax!

First roll with my Jetsetter, shot with the 6x12 frame to maximise the panorama capability of the Belair. Only got five shots on the roll, and one was too overexposed to upload. I know it's too soon to judge, and I have to really investigate the potential of this camera, but my first impression is this: it's no Horizon Perfekt.

These are from an old roll of Fujichrome Velvia which was loaded into Canon Sureshot years ago. A holiday trip brought out the camera last year and the film went in with a number of rolls of C-41. No one (not myself or at the lab) noticed and it got mistakenly cross processed. The resulting shots are wonderfully garrish.

Test roll of homemade redscale800 for 120. Originally Kodak Portra800. About 30 seconds exposed. Little bit under-exposed than I expected. Not so different from Lomography Redscale 50-200. Color saturation and contrast are rich enough. Will test again.
