That's a softer side of Spurgeon than I am familiar. I think Tolkien mentioned something about Lewis' stentorian voice; I can almost hear it booming as he tacked on an ending to Paul. Corrie had a large name for a wee woman, he-he.

@neufotomacher Spurgeon was a firebrand when he saw fit, but he was also one of the most gentle writers in all Christianity. You can really see that in his writings. But he railed so aggressively against chattel slavery in America that people importing his sermons would censor those parts. He earned the title, The Prince of Preachers for a reason.

I have heard the same things about Lewis, but I have never heard him speak. The same could be said for Tozer as well.

Corrie Ten Boom was a small woman with a big faith indeed. Interestingly, there's a quote from Dietrich Bonhoeffer there, as well. Bonhoeffer was in the same camp (I believe) for formulating a plan to assassinate Hitler. He was hung two days before the camp's liberation by Allied Forces, ironically enough.

Glad we can jive about this a bit. Thank you as always for taking the time to conversate with me. :)

I like Tozer. Most challenging to me.
