    Fascinating the requirements for the need of a lighthouse. In California, which has a large coastline, I can't think of one lighthouse, but on the Atlantic coast and England, they seem more prominent.

    @neufotomacher The lighthouse above isn't even a lighthouse anymore - it was dismantled and rebuilt inland about a hundred or so years ago as a historical attraction. You can go now go inside and check out the view. I'm not sure how much uses there are for lighthouses anymore, which might explain why California doesn't have any.
