Lomo’Instant Quick Shots by Nils of Lomography France

Nils, our amazing new staff member from Lomography France. Aside from photography, he likes pizza, surfing, and fireworks. He recently took the Lomo’Instant for a spin in Paris. In the narrow streets, he had some funny encounters and had a great time with multiple exposures. He now shares with us his first impressions!

What do you like the most about the Lomo’Instant camera?

I really like the object and its design: the Lomo’Instant looks both vintage and modern. I love the three colored designs, they are very classy. And of course, its infinite possibilities of shooting! Multiple exposures, long exposures, aperture choices… For me they really differentiate it from other instant devices.

Any tips to shoot with the Lomo’Instant?

Feel free to play with the apertures, especially during multiple exposures: I advise you to shoot the second picture over the dark parts of the previous one, so you won’t overexpose the whole image. Also give priority to bright environments. And finally, keep in mind the position of the viewer and the lens… or don’t! Let the Lomo’Instant surprise you.

Did you discover any fun ways to use it?

I played a lot with multiple exposures. One technique I like is to take a first picture and then turn the Lomo’Instant over for the second shot. Amazing!

Where would you like to shoot with the Lomo’Instant?

I’d love to shoot a funfair at night. The rides and stalls are always full of bright, fluorescent and colorful lights. The photos turn out very dynamic, vibrant and highly saturated.

Any fun tipster to share with us?

Experiment and play with both portrait and landscape formats. Change the orientation of the camera during multiple exposures. Make its head swim!
