LomoWalk with Me: A Film Swap Project from Berlin to Cyprus by @guja and @fisheyemary

The Lomography Community oozes with analogue talent and goodness. Our extensive gallery of film photographs is a testament to the Community's passion for all things Lomographic. More than sharing art and photographs, Lomographers also form bonds, friendships, and artistic collaborations! Such is the friendship between Gudrun, a.k.a. guja and Maria, a.k.a. fisheyemary as they started a holiday get-together and making the most out of the meet-up with a LomoWalk and film swapping.

According to Gudrun, she and Maria met about three years ago. The two planned a trip in Cyprus and arranged a LomoWalk, and Gudrun brought with her husband and Lomographer Klaus a.k.a. klawe. Maria brought with her a friend and the four of them took a LomoWalk in the Lefkara resort. Maria superimposed her shots onto Gudrun's already exposed roll of a Kodak ColorPlus 200. " I exposed the film in the cold Berlin spring and Maria doubled it in sunny Cyprus," said Gudrun.

Then, the two processed the films in redscale, a technique of reversing the film to achieve warm, red tones. The shots came out very vivid, rosy, and quite dichotomous as the natural views of the Mediterranean island come in to contrast the German capital's architecture. " I was immediately impressed by the beautiful colors. I think there are also some powerful effects caused by the double exposure," told Gudrun.

Gudrun also shared her advice for film swappers: "If possible, take pictures with a similar camera and mark the first frame on the film. Hide the DX code and note the exposure ISO number on the film." In this series, Maria used an Olympus Trip 35 while Gudrun used a Minolta X700.

Next, Gudrun is set off for another film swap with fellow Lomographer schwarzesauge, as well as another film swap project with a colleague using black and white film.
