A Visual Diary in Paris With Beatrice Granados and Lomography Redscale Film

Some time ago Spanish photographer Beatrice Granados took us on a trip to NYC though her Color Negative 400 and LomoChrome Purple photos. She's always on the go and this time she's sharing with us her stunning photos of Paris shot on the Lomography Redscale XR film.

Hi Beatrice, welcome back to our Online Magazine! Could you introduce yourself for those that don't know you yet?

Thank you so much for having me back! It's always an honor being featured here. Well, I am Beatrice, I am 31 and I come from the south of Spain and I now live in grey London for some reasons. I don't know exactly how to describe my job. Let's say I am creative. I work as a freelance photographer but also as creative director, model, content creator for brands/businesses.

Please tell us more about this stunning series shot with our Redscale film. What took you to Paris?

Oh, thanks! I'm glad you like them. Well, somehow I've always been connected to Paris, and since I was a little kid the idea of living in that beautiful city was something on my mind. I guess that my 30s life crisis made me pack my big suitcases and move for some months to Paris. It was one of those: "why not?" and "now or never " situations. I just wanted to experience being a Parisian for a period of time. And I loved it. I think that Paris is a very dramatic city and with the Redscale film this atmosphere gets amplified. I thought it was a good combination.

Have you ever tried our Redscale film before? What are the features that you like the most of this film?

No, it was my first time trying it and I had so much fun. I think I love how the light is captured and how everything seems to get a very dark mysterious atmosphere with this film, even the most simple photo turns into a cover story!

Which camera did you use for these photos?

I used my baby, my trusted partner: my Nikon F90x with a 35 mm f2 Nikkor old lense. It's my reference camera and I just love how quick, sharp and good it is.

Did the type of film influence the choice of the subjects?

Yes, definitely. Because it's a monochrome and red based film I focused on situations/places on the warm spectrum. But I was more curious about the light: how the sunlight behaves with the film and that's why I tried to take photos on sunny days or when the light was giving me something.

Do you have any interesting projects or collaborations planned that you would like to share with us?

Well, for now I am settling in London again, trying to get everything back together and recover from the Covid disaster. I am actually travelling back to Paris tomorrow for work, that's always exciting. I love travel photography, working for hotels, hospitality, and it's something I am trying to make room for in my future plans, so let's see. Maybe the next time we talk I can share something else related to that. Wish me luck.
