You may have come across Angela Izzo's photography through our online magazine a few times. A long time LomoAmigo, Angela has developed an eye-catching style of ethereal and psychedelic moods. She is always challenging herself in her creative process, and we love to learn about and share her latest creations.

One of her recent projects was with our new LomoApparat point-and-shoot camera. With features like the kaleidoscope and splitzer lens attachments and color gel flash, the LomoApparat made the perfect partner to bring Angela's unique vision to life.

Hi Angela, welcome back to Lomography’s community. It’s been a while since we last spoke. How have you been?

Thanks for having me back! I'm absolutely thrilled to be a part of the Lomography community, and thanks again for the opportunity to try out the LomoApparat!

I’ve been working very hard and this summer has been an absolute blast for me, filled with exciting travels and unforgettable moments. I recently wrapped up an incredible journey through Switzerland and Italy.

Where are you drawing creative inspiration from these days?

Lately, I've been finding inspiration from both nature and fashion. I love immersing myself in different places and incorporating elements of fashion into my photography. There's something truly captivating about losing myself in nature and allowing it to influence my creative vision. I enjoy exploring fashion trends and styles, and I've found that incorporating them into my photography adds an engaging dimension to my work. By blending fashion with the natural environments I capture, I create unique compositions that reflect my artistic perspective.

What about the LomoApparat caught your attention?

The LomoApparat immediately caught my attention with its diverse range of lenses. Among them, what intrigued me the most was the prism effect. Having incorporated prisms into my photography for many years, I was excited to have the opportunity to try it out with the LomoApparat. I was excited to experiment and couldn’t wait to see how my photos turned out.

Did the LomoApparat meet your expectations? How did it complement your unique style?

The LomoApparat exceeded my expectations with its compact size and impressive variety of features. As someone who loves experimenting with different effects, I often switch between multiple cameras, but with the LomoApparat, everything I needed was right there! I could easily change filters to achieve various looks, and even the flash came with different colored gels that I could easily change. It was such a convenient and versatile setup, allowing me to capture the perfect shot with just one camera, combining functionality, creativity, and eye-catching aesthetics!

We’d love to know more about this photo series. Did you plan these shots with your models or did you spontaneously experiment out in the field?

There's always an exciting mix of planned locations and spontaneous adventures in my photography. I like to combine a balance between structure and allowing moments to unfold naturally, creating pure magic in the process. One of the most memorable shoots from the series was with my friend Andrea Whitt at the Sunset Marquis in Hollywood. We fully embraced a rock 'n' roll vibe and had an absolute blast prancing around the hotel, channeling our inner rock stars.

Can you describe the LomoApparat in three words?

Three words to describe the camera would be versatile, playful, and unique!

What can we look forward to next from Angela Izzo?

What you can look forward to from me is my recent European travel diary! I went on an incredible adventure, journeying through Switzerland and Italy by train, exploring places I had never been before. I can’t wait to develop the film and share it with everyone.

Anything else you’d like to share?

I’ve been tapping into my fine art work and have been showcasing my work in several galleries. I recently had the incredible opportunity to showcase my work in Europe for the first time in a queer feminist exhibition in Geneva Switzerland. Exhibiting and traveling abroad have ignited my passion for my craft and motivated me to elevate my work. I'm thrilled to keep exploring and pushing the boundaries of my art, sharing my unique perspective with the world.
