Recap: Lomowalk Turquoise X Coney Island with Photodom

1

When the warmer weather was rolling in this past May, we hosted a Lomowalk with some folks over at NYC-based camera shop and studio Photodom in the heart of Brooklyn—Coney Island.

This one was quite special—it was our first LomoChrome Turquoise walk. From amusement park rides and art walls to beach landscapes and the New York City spirit, the participants' results show us a perspective of the popular neighborhood never seen before! Check out what several participants captured and had to say about the day.

"It was really cool and fun to be able to experiment with the new film. I enjoy how [Lomography is] still keeping things fun and the essence of film alive by making new film types and giving people incentive to shoot. It reinforces what I love about film by allowing me to take risks and being aware that what I see with my eye is not always what I’ll capture once seeing my photos. A great film for street photography and experimental art."

“Having to explore the new Turquoise film with my peers was so fun especially since we didn’t know how it would come out. To my surprise though, the film holds up well and is great for the type of experimental art I make. I love being able to come together with members of the community outside of work and talk about the cameras and film we love while enjoying the boardwalk. The nostalgic aspect of Coney made the experience even more worth while."

"On what felt like the first real start to the summer, Coney Island was bustling with activity and my initial plan was to shoot black and white but then i was given this Lomo turquoise film and had no idea how the photos would turn out. Much to my surprise they were funky in a good way.”
- Richard Louissaint, Participant

We hope everybody who participated had a fun, film filled day! Special thanks to Photodom for making this event happen.
