What are the different instant film formats?
There are currently only two manufacturers of Instant film – Polaroid and Fujifilm.
Polaroid currently produces five formats of instant film. These are Polaroid 600 film, Polaroid i-type film, Polaroid SX-70 film, Polaroid Go film, and Polaroid 8×10 film. Each of these film types is only compatible with certain Polaroid cameras. For example Polaroid 600 film is compatible with vintage Polaroid cameras as well as i-Type Polaroid cameras.
The Fujifilm Instax range is a bit more simple, more affordable and widely available. There are just three formats and these are appropriately named Instax Mini Film, Instax Square Film and Instax Wide Film.
All Lomography cameras use one of these three Fujifilm Instax formats. Here’s a handy breakdown of which camera is compatible with each film type:
Instax Mini Film: The Lomo’Instant, Lomo’Instant Automat, Lomo’Instant Automat Glass and Lomo’Instant Square Glass
Instax Square film: The Diana Instant Square and Lomo’Instant Square Glass
Instax Wide Film: Lomo’Instant Wide

What happens if I take out the instax film canister from my camera with film still inside?
