Barcelona-based Italian photographer Marta Pilotto tested the brand new LomoChrome Purple 2021 Pétillant for us. Find out her first impressions and take a look at her wonderful results.
Hi Marta, welcome back on our Online Magazine! What differences have you noticed with the new LomoChrome Purple 2021 Pétillant compared to the previous formula you used for your fashion editorials?
With the new formula I noticed more saturated colours and a more vivid contrast. Shooting with the light conditions I shot in, you can get a fantastic "cinematic" effect.
If you could sum up your LomoChrome Purple experience in three words, what would they be?
Emotion, curiosity and research. Most of all emotion, since I was lucky enough to be able to try out a roll of film that was not yet on the market.
What ISO did you shoot these photos at?
What do you think of the sparkling surprise that comes with this film?
I had noticed the dots and I think certain "imperfections" give it an even more unique touch.
Is there a photo you particularly like from this test roll? Can you explain why?
Yes, there are two that I particularly loved, the ones below, for the simple fact that in my mind they looked exactly like that. When I shoot on film I love to imagine the results, and in this case the result matched what I was basically 'hoping for'. The apple was purposely chosen very green.
Is there any advice you would like to share with those who have never used LomoChrome Purple film before?
I would recommend throwing yourself into green and playing with all its shades, remembering that the yellow range will also be subject to transformation.
In your last interview you mentioned that you wanted to create a photo project story shot entirely on film. Did you manage to realise it?
Thinking about it, this Purple series I shot for you had no 'digital medium', it only exists on film. Can we consider it my first entirely analogue story?
